The Google Mobile Team has just released its first downloadable iPhone application. Simply dubbed “Google Mobile App,” the free software lets you search for anything (including contacts), providing you with search suggestions that the application remembers once you start using them more often. Best of all, if you search for, let’s say, a restaurant, Google Mobile App immediately displays the results in Google maps.

“Our first downloadable iPhone application is here,” the enthusiastic team at Google Mobile says. “It’s free, and it makes searching faster and easier. It’s never as easy to type on a mobile phone as on a full keyboard and the mobile network is rarely as fast as a desktop connection.” According to the team, “the Google Mobile App starts working as soon as you type.”

The application scours Google for anything related to what you’re currently typing, in order to zero in on what you need with every key press. While typing, the app offers suggestions as to what you might be looking for. Tap one and Google Mobile App will remember your choice for the future, offering it among the first suggestions next time you search for the same thing. Using the new application, Google search also integrates with your iPhone’s address book to make it easier to contact the people you call or text most often.
